Richard Atwell announces candidacy for Mayor of Saanich
Saanich, BC - Widely recognized community leader and seventeen year Saanich resident, Richard Atwell announces his candidacy for Mayor of Saanich in the upcoming November 2014 municipal election.
Challenging Times Require New Leadership
“We must have an efficient and responsive government that is accountable to the public in order to achieve liveable communities, ecological harmony and sustainable livelihoods”, said Richard Atwell, candidate for Saanich Mayor.
“I have dedicated the last several years of my life to local and regional initiatives and that experience has shown me that the public is concerned about the way decisions are made and they want to see a fresh approach and positive change.”

The Atwell Approach

Campaign Pledge
“If I have the privilege of being elected Mayor by the residents of Saanich, I will seek the support of the Mayors, Electoral Area Directors and First Nations Leaders in our region to initiate a governance review of the Capital Regional District”, said Richard Atwell, candidate for Saanich Mayor.
“Management of waste, compost, sewage and transportation are regional in scope and the public wants to see improved regional cooperation and service delivery with greater public involvement.”
