Notice the small wedge like things in front of some of the windows, I think these are the smallest balconies I have ever seen. This is the Mosaic building as seen from Meares Street. You can not make it out in this picture, but on the fourth floor near Fort there is a sliding glass door open onto one of these "balconies"

I have a condo there.
It was built as an office building in 1963. Originally it had motel-style walk-around balconies on each floor. When it was converted in 1999 the exterior was pushed out to the edge (about mid-way on my living room ceiling you can see the seam in the concrete where the original exterior wall was).
Sometimes I regret not having a balcony but I have to admit when I did own a condo with a balcony I rarely used it, it was either too hot or too cold or too windy.
