A community meeting about Sayward Road and Pat Bay Hwy

I am very impressed with Lana Popham as an MLA because she is doing more than just being opposition member or using the role of MLA to be an activist.   Next Wednesday she has organized a second community meeting about the Sayward/Par Bay Hwy intersection.

Dear Saanich South,
You are invited to a community meeting about safety improvements for the intersection at Pat Bay Highway & Sayward Rd.
Wed. Feb. 29, 2012
Cordova Bay Community Place,
5238 Cordova Bay Road.

6:30-7:30 pm Open House with options on poster-boards, tea and treats.
7:30-8:30 pm Panel and open microphone.
In 2010 I organized a community forum to bring attention to this important issue. Ministry of Transportation staff and elected officials met in Cordova Bay with over a hundred residents. You told us what you wanted and you told us what you didn't want. A working group was created from that meeting. Staff from the Ministry of Transportation and BC Transit worked collaboratively with a community rep, muncipal councillors and myself.

Now there is a tentative plan to improve safety at this intersection!
Come out and hear the details. Find out how community suggestions have been incorporated, and provide further input. Your engagement will help improve the plan and create solutions that work for Saanich South. Together we can get this done!

Lana Popham
MLA Saanich South
Being an MLA does give you a status that allows to make some things happen.   If more MLAs took independent action that was not capital P political  we would have better representation.

Events like this also allow the public to see that MLAs are worth having and will mean people regain respect for them.
