After Central Saanich council voted to allow the Hill Project to go ahead the Residents and Ratepayers of Central Saanich Society sued Central Saanich on the grounds they did not have the right to make the decision.
They lost the case in April of last year at the BC Supreme Court level. Central Saanich and Ian Vantreight were awarded their costs by the court in January of this year - RROCSS is responsible for what are likely not an inconsequential amount.
They appealed to the BC Court of Appeal and lost there in November last year.
Finally the RROCSS tried to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed their appeal today The Supreme Court of Canada also awarded costs to the respondents, this means the RROCSS has to pay the legal bill for Central Saanich and Ian Vantreight.
I am curious to know how the RROCSS is going to come up with the tens of thousands they owe to Central Saanich and the Vantreights?
