I know that they have a process candidates need to go through to get their endorsement, but I am surprised at how few candidates they are endorsing in some areas.
City of Victoria
Dean Fortin for Mayor
Sonya Chandler, Lynn Hunter, Philippe Lucas, John Luton and Pam Madoff for council.
Saanich
Judy Brownoff and Dean Murdock for council. Interestingly no mayor endorsement.
Esquimalt only Ali Gaul gets the nod for council.
In Oak Bay only Michelle Kirby for council.
Langford Steven Hurdle and Ryan Hinton for council.
In Metchosin John Ranns for mayor and Leslie Zinger for council.
View Royal Andrew Britton for council.
In Central Saanich Sue Stroud and Zeb King for council.
In North Saanich, Sidney, Highlands, Colwood, Sooke and the CRD there were no endorsements.
For School Board in SD #61 Catherine Alpha, Mike Hayes, Bev Horsman and Peg Orcherton
For SD #62 Patricia Holloway and Don Stewart
For SD #63 Elsie McMurphy
They are not endorsing everyone that is linked to the NDP and have endorsed a number of Greens, so their endorsment process is not just an NDP farm team thing, it is broader than that. Given the low voter turn out in local elections, having the VLC endorse and let people know should help the candidates get elected. In the past the VLC has had trouble letting people know who they were endorsing, maybe this time they will communicate it better.
